I just got a new Mac and have been having some trouble transferring my itunes library from my PC to my Mac. i am not very tech savvy and was wondering how to do it easily and stress free! <

I have a mini, but just got a new ipod and want to use that with the new mac instead of the Mini. Sorry if its confusing...just let me know and i can clarify!
Thank you!!

Hello Kate
Thanks for using macosx.com and I will see if I can advise you...
There are a number of ways to tackle this problem, but this is the simplest of them.
On your windows computer go to my computer > my documents > my music > itunes > and then within the iTunes folder there will be two files named iTunes library.xml, and iTunes 4 music library.itl. Copy these onto a device such as a memory stick. Once you have done this simply locate the music on your windows hard drive (should be in or near the iTunes folder) and copy this into your memory stick as well. Once you have done this insert the memory stick into your mac and drag and drop the music into the running iTunes application. While you're still in iTunes select File > Import and browse for the file iTunes library.xml. Once you have done this the transfer should be complete.
I hope I have answered your question, but if you need any additional assistance please feel free to respond.
Good Luck,
Stephen

Hi! thanks for the quick response!
i have a 1 GB memory stick, and about 900 songs...will i be able to transfer all of the songs onto the mac using that memory stick?
and also i have tried using a download called senuti....but that only transfered some of my songs...before it stopped...do you have any advice on that?
but anyway thanks, and i will try your way and see if that works!
thanks again,
kate

A 1GB memory stick should be just enough to do the job, depending on the length of your songs. If it is not though you could simply transfer the first, lets say, 450 and then the other half after that.
Regarding the program Senuti, the reason why it probably stopped is because that program is still in beta which mean that it is not fully functional and the developers are still working out the bugs.
I hope this advice helps you!
Good Luck,
Stephen
