Description:
Recently, I purchased Quicken 98 and have decided to give my old Quicken 95 to my mother. My copy of '95 is only on CD, but my mother's old Mac doesn't have a CD drive. Because of the size of it, I can't download '95 to one floppy. How can I get the Mac to download the program onto two or more floppies?

Hello Theresa,
There are two ways (actually more but we wont do them all)
First you can use a printer cable between your mac and your mothers
mac and setup a localtalk connection. But that would mean moving your
mothers computer or yours.

Now here is another simpler way:
Get a copy of ZipIt:
ftp://ftp.awa.com/pub/softlock/mac/p...ipit/zipit.hqx

the homepage for the program is at:
http://www.awa.com/softlock/zipit/

Now open zipit and select "Zip" from the menu bar and then
drag down to "Add". Now select the installer file from the cdrom
for Quicken 95 hopefully its just one big installer file otherwise
you'll need to get more off the cd.

Click on "Done". Now you have a window that has the file or files
listed in it. Go to "File" and drag down to "Save as". Put a floppy
in the drive. Select the floppy within the Save as dialog box open
it and save the file there. Now ZipIt will start deflating the file.
Once the file is deflated it will start saving the "zipped" file to
the disk when the disk is full it will eject and the program will
ask for another disk. Do this till you are done. I believe it will
ask for the first disk it saved to when it finishes so that it can
write a little bit more info on that first disk. So make sure you
label your disks with a pencil or pen.

You will need to unzip the files with either ZipIt or Stuffit Expander
with Expander Enhancer on your mother's computer.

Good luck and let me know how it goes for you.
