Hello Herman,

Try the following procedure. It may not work but I promise it won't hurt.
1) Quit the AddressBook program if running. Quit Mail too and any program which routinely accesses your address book contacts.
2) In Finder, under your home, select your Library/AddressBook folder.
3) Duplicate it (hit Apple-D), it creates a "Copy of AddressBook" folder.
4) Inside the original Library/AddressBook folder, delete the file called ABPerson.skIndex. Keep the file called AddressBook.data.
5) Launch AddressBook and see if it can read your contacts data.
6a) If AddressBook can read it, you're done. Congratulations! AddressBook will recreate the missing index from the raw data when needed. You can erase the backup folder you created in step 3.
6b) If AddressBook does not display your contacts at this stage, I don't know how to help you further. Sorry! Please erase the AddressBook folder and rename the copy you made in step 3 as "AddressBook", to restore the files as they were standing before this procedure.
7) Whether it worked or not, please let me know on this board, to share this expertise with others.

Good luck!

JFG
