Description:
I recently scanned a typewritten page into a ClarisWorks 4.O document, which saved it as a pict. file. I then tried to e.mail this as an attached file using Claris Emailer lite to two friends who have PC's with Windows-95. Beforehand, I asked the ISP which compression I should use and they suggested to use the ISP default; supposedly this would allow my friends to translate the file using WinZip. They weren't able to open the file, however. How should I try to send this file to them? Should I add a three letter suffix on my Mac file before I send it(if so, what should it be)? Should I use Base64 or UUencode to compress it instead of Stuffit (my friends received the file as a .sit file)? Any ideas you have would be greatly appreciated. I can't seem to find much information about it on the Apple or MacWorld websites. Thanks - Marty Towbin

Hi Martin and welcome to No Wonder
PICT is a Mac only image format - the best to use is JPEG or GIF without any further compression.
Send the JPEG/GIF image in either base 64 or uuencode format - depending on what format the PC user can support...both should work.
There is a web page which briefly describes how to send attachments.

If you can't change the PICT file to JPEG or GIF, download GraphicConverter which will allow you to covert the images.
