Have a client who creates eps files in both photoshop CS2 and Illustrator CS2 - she used to be able to just double-click the eps files and the associated program would open (PS or Ill) but now, this doesn't work.
I did a get info on a PS eps and set it to open with photoshop CS2 and hit Change All button, and of course, now ALL eps files (even the ones that were created in Illustrator CS2) open in Photoshop CS2. The process works EXACTLY vice-versa with Illustrator-created eps files.
This happens on all other macs and try it on as well, although it didn't used to.
Is there someway to get the machine to open PHOTOSHOP eps files with Photoshop and ILLUSTRATOR eps files to open in Illustrator, other than saving the documents in their native apps? (aka, save photoshop files as psd or tiffs)
System is G5, 2 gigs of memory, 10.4.5.
Thanks in advance for any and all help you have.
This article could be of some use but it doesn't specifically mention the photoshop/illustrator eps opening issue:

Before doing anything else, have you repaired permissions on both machines? Apps/Utilities/Disk Utility/repair permissions. Could help get the eps issue sorted.
Then try moving all .pref and .plist files for "photoshop" and "illustrator", restart the apps and then try to double click the file. Maybe it will then open in the app that actually created it. You might have to reverse or undo the "Open With" that you set before.
Have you used your Hardware Test cd to test your RAM? If you had a bad RAM card it might cause weird issues like this…
Your last resort would be to reinstall the apps and see if that helps.
