I have a Mac with quark express installed on it. I installed CS3 and now I am unable to create PDFs from Quark.

I searched the Adobe and Quark websites to find something about this and was unable to find anything.

Has any one heard about this or a work around?

Howdy! Fellow designer here.

So have you updated your Quark to 7.2 yet? I have to say I haven't heard about this issue, but maybe if you tell me more I can help a bit. Do you get an error message from Quark when you 'Export' a pdf file?

Have you tried exporting/saving an eps from quark and distilling that to see if it works?

Also, check your Quark PDF Library and see when it was last Modified using Get Info. If the modification date = your upgrade date you have an answer. If not, you might need to grab a new Quark PDF Library as yours might be corrupt. Back it up somewhere first before you do anything with it, though, just to be safe.

No we are still on QuarkXpress 6.5.

I tested exporting as EPS then distilling the document. This worked.

We have just lost the option to print as PDf through file print. When you choose Adobe Acrobat 7.0 from the available printers we do not have the pdf options under the printer button.

What type off file formats can we distill through distiller?

You know you can File/Export to PDF directly from Quark, right?

If you can't go to the print dialog and 'Save to PDF' then that's an issue with your printer. You could delete it from your Print Center and re-add it. Maybe that will bring back your ability to Save as PDF in this way?

Also, distiller will work with both eps and ps (postscript files). Distiller's job is to turn postscript files (.eps and .ps files created from Illustrator, InDesign and others) into pdf files for print.
