Hello,

I had seen a posting on this forum regarding the inablility to delete burn folders in OS 10.4.2 earlier this year. The string ended with the issue unresolved so I'd like to ask again....does anyone know how to delete Burn Folders from the desktop in OS 10.4.2?

thank you
Miercos

Marco, welcome to macosx.com

(1) Try 'get info' ; what are the permissions ? read only or read & write?

(2) I would try to repair permissions
(must be admin)
Launch Applications/Utilities/DiskUtility
On the left pane, select the drive
On the right, select the First Aid (or SOS) tab
Then click on repair permissions and let run; don not worry about messages like " new permissions...."
Quit DiskUtility
Shutdown and reboot

(3) Something crasy to test; in the Info pane of the burn folder; check, then uncheck the locked box under the general pane

Regards
Philippe

Philippe,

Because I'm not the administratorl I could not try your option#2,...but option #3 worked! Besides me, two other people here with the same issue will be happy.

Thanks

Marco

Oh .....my......god !
I never think this "check/uncheck" tip will work... in fact, when I face problem with a file/folder, I run this "funny game" as the first thing to solve my problem...

I never use the "burn folder" capability; I rely either on burning a disk image I previoulsy filled with files/folder on or classical burner tools like Toast (www.roxio.com) or BurnXfree (http://www.hernansoft.com/products.html)

Happy to have helped you on this issue - how d'mned do the Apple enginneers for testing their stuff..well, I can criticate: I'm a software enginneer ;-)

Thank you Marco for using macosx.com and be sure that we, tech guy on this site, will be there for helping you in your daily use of the Mac

Regards
Philippe
