Hi there,
I was wondering why it is that every time I burn a CD or DVD, when the process is complete, about half of the folders on my desktop all jump to the top right hand corner of my screen, and I have to drag them all back to place.
Is there anything that can be done, or is it just something I'm going to have to put up with?

What software are you using for burning the CD? If you're using the Finder, what version of Mac OS do you have installed? You may just need to update to fix that issue.
Whatever the case, using a different application (like Roxio Toast for example) should fix the issue. If it doesn't, then it's probably related to your burner and the firmware it uses. Possibly there are driver updates for it. You should check the manufacturer's website for any bugfixes or new drivers.
Also, have you tried setting the View Options on your desktop to force either/both a grid arrangement or/and a forced "by name" or "by type" arrangement? You can access this menu by pressing Command-J or going to View >> Show View Options while you have the desktop upfront in the Finder. Forcing it to keep the icons arranged in a certain manner may prevent them from being able to move.
One last thing, if you're unable to stop the problem, you can use the menu command View >> Clean Up or Arrange >> (by whatever) to force those icons back into a usable order without having to drag each one!
Hope that helps. Just let me know if you need more help. I'll check regularly for responses,
Wes

Hi, Asaf!
Just thought I'd check in and see if that information was helpful. Did you find a solution to your problem?
Hope all is well!

hi Wes,
I thank you for your help... I chekced 'snap bacck to grid', but i have not had a need to burn anything since you sent me the reply... Im assuming that within the next 48 hours my next DVD will be ready, and then i will be able to check if it worked or not.. and then of course, I will let you know...
Thanks
Asaf

Asaf,
I'm leaving town tomorrow and I wont be able to follow up on this issue while I'm gone. I'm going to mark this thread as resolved since I really have no other advice to offer you. If you find that you are still having issues, you may re-post your question for other support volunteers to look at. You should receive an e-mail containing a full transcript of our conversation. You can just copy-paste it into a new post if you wish!
Remember, once your icons end up in the top corner of your screen, you can always just force an automatic re-arragement via View >> Arrange >> By Name/By Kind/etc.
Cheers,
Wes
