My woes with my G4/400 Mac continue. I have an internal CD/DVD 6X drive. I have attached an external NEC 24X CD burner connected to a D-Link Firewire/USB 2.0 PCI card. Everything shows up OK and I'm able to burn CDs using iTunes.
However, whenever I try to burn a CDR using Disk Utility or Disk Copy, OS X 10.2.8 tells me that it can't because "the disc drive is not supported." I get a Mac logo with a red exclamation mark icon.
What's going on? Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

You cannot use those apps to burn to a non apple CD Burner, You will need to go and buy Toast.
OR......
You can try swapping the CD/DVD drive, with the burner from the external drive...but you will have to open up your Mac and the external cd burner... and it may still give you the same error.
Thanks for the info. It's also working fine with Toast I may add. However many time, it's easier to burn with Disk Copy or Disk Utility.
I forgot to mention that I had already tried swapping out the CD/DVD drive with the CD burner drive and you're right, I got the same error.
I want to upgrade the internal CD/DVD drive with a DVD burner. What drive would you recommend so that I don't get the error with Disk Copy or Disk Utility?
Thanks again,
/Joe
