I made a disk image from a DVD so i could copy it. Now im finish with it and want to erase the .dmg file, but when I go to erase disk in disk utility I am unable to click on anything. How do i remove this .dmg file from my volumes folder and how do i access my volumes folder?

I have a MBP 2.16ghz running 10.4.7.

Hi and welcome to macosx.com

Just drag the .dmg file to the trash and empty it.

And I do not understand what you mean by "access my volumes folder" ???

Regards
Philippe

Ok if it was that simple it would have been done with out asking about it, but its not. (don't take offense) Ok the .dmg file is in the "Volumes" folder. I cannot find this folder any where. I spotlight it and search for it and it comes up empty. However when I open up disk utility and click open disk image it brings me to the "Volumes" folder is located. And then the only option is...is to open it. I am able to drag it into the trash however, it does not seem to be actually going into it.

Well, I have disk images of games I made through DU or other tools like Toast.
Double-clicking on the .dmg mount the DVD as if I had inserted into the drive.
When I have finished, I drag the DVD icon to the trash to unmount the image.
My .dmg are located on different places of the drive but when mounted, the CD/DVD icon always appear on the Desktop.

I never had any behavior as yours.

I'll prefer to reopen the question.
But in the meantime, I would suggest you to make .dmg with a CD of data/music and see if the same behavior occurs. Post the results back in this question thread

Regards
Philippe

The Volumes folder is actually .Volumes folder and is invisible. Use one of the many freeware/shareware apps available at versiontracker.com and macupdate.com (Tinkertool, Onyx, Cocktail, maintain, MainMenu, etc.) to make all your invisible files/folders visible. You will then see your .Volumes folder. Open it and then delete the .dmg file. Then use whatever utility you used to make the invisible files visible, invisible again.

HTH and please let us know what happens. Thanks.
