When I boot up everything is crystal clear on the monitor until the Finder gets displayed. Then it changes to an almost unreadable resolution. It is very grainy and distorted colors. I've changed the battery. I've reset the PRAM (at boot up option+command+P+R). I reset the PRU. Nothing is working. I am running OSX 10.3.9 on a 450 Mhz PowerPC G4. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Check your Display Settings in your Display Pref Pane. There should be a button that allows you to Detect Display. This should set your resolution to what your system feels optimal. If you don't like it's reccomendation you can always select a resolution you want manualy. You may have already tried this but it's worth a shot.
