Hello,
I purchased the new black iPod in the USA and loaded it with music and videos from the iBook that I keep there.
I really believed (and was told so in the Appple Stores) that I would be able to download any items from there onto my iMac G5 here in the UK but find it impossible. I have aligned the iPod with the G5 but find that I can only hear the music or see the videos on the computer whilst the iPod is attached. Is that always the case?
Bill

Dear Bill, Thank you for choosing Mac OS X, my name is Max, and I'll be assisting you today.
My recommendation would be to, once the ipod is connected, drag and drop all of the videos and tunes into your music library. Just press Command-A, and then drag them to the library. It should copy them onto your hard drive. This may take some time, depending on how many songs/videos you have saved on your ipod.
Please feel free to email me if you need any more support, or if you have any questions or comments.
Thank you again for choosing Mac OS X.com, and Have a nice day.
Sincerely,
Max

Hello Max and thankyou for your very quick reply however I still seem to have a problem. Here's what happens using your suggestion.
When I select iPod then press Command-A, the whole iPod list highlights. then, if i pick up any item to drag it to the library a music sign with a red number beside it (this is most probably the amount of items on the the iPod) BUT! the only place I can get a green plus drop sign is within the iPod menu. Absolutely nothing will move into the Library.
Thanks
Bill

You will need to use some software designed to copy files from the iPod, such as Senuti, or iPodRip. You can find both of these by searching at versiontracker.com

Apple does not want to make this easy, partly because of their agreements with the various music publishers.

Holy Senuti Dale,
thankyou soooo much, it seems to be working like clockwork or even faster.
Now here's the "burning" question, lol.
I purchased and downloaded several episodes of Desparates for my daughters, it doesn't arrive here in the UK until the new year. Will I be able to burn the video's that I am currently copying from the iPod onto discs that will play on any old dvd player. Please say yes, Dale, please!
Thanks again,
Bill

I won't say Yes - I have no way to try this.
You should try one and see if it does work. You will have to discover how to export to iDVD, as that's the easiest way to make a DVD that will play on any player. Toast 7 should be able to handle this, also.

OK Mate
I'll let you know how it goes, but thanks again for the Senuti tip
