Description:
I have been signed on to a website for three weeks and have been downloading images from that site with no problem. The images appear on my desktop as JEPG icons and I open them with JPEGVIEW software. The website began thumbnailing their catigories. When I click on a thumbnail image to be downloaded, the image opens. I save the image to the desktop and the icon that appears is a blank sheet of paper iocon, not a JEPG icon. When I open the icon I get a text window instead of the graphic. I have tried Stuffit Deluxe,Claris Works,AOL, and JPEGVIEW to open the text window with no success. Any suggestions on what I need to open these thumbnailed text icons

You will find that most browsers such as Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator or Communicator will also open <.jpg and JPEG> files. I am not familiar with JPEGVIEW that you speak of.
Ideally, if you wish to save such images and make any modifications to them you need a imaging software program. One of the least expensive ways to do that would be to download Lemke's Graphic Converter program which is shareware. Then, make that you default on your browser. It is really an elegant shareware application. I believe you can find it by looking at:
http://www5.zdnet.com/mac/download/
or you might try looking at
http://wwww.versiontracker.com/
and search their recently posted files. Lemke updates his software periodically. He is in Germany.
If you become proficient in the use of graphics the world's best is Adobe PhotoShop which is currently utilizing version 5. I have used it for year aand can attest to its fine qualities and high price.
