Will dreamweaver 4.0 MAc work with any OS 10 versions. I now run OS 9.2 and would rather not upgrade for my two websites.

Hi Rico,

Dreamweaver 4 will *work* on OS 10 but it won't run natively, it runs in a full-speed emulation of OS 9 called 'Classic'.
What this basically means is that OS 9 runs as a virtual layer inside OS X allowing you to run older, OS 9-dependent applications. There are a number of benefits to this approach not least that if a classic application crashes, there is not requirement to restart your entire computer.
The classic environment is included with Mac OSX and instructions for installing it can be found here:

Further information can be found here:

Let me know if you need any more assistance.

Thanks Tommy, I felt sure dreamweaver would run in classic mode; I've found that it always pays to seek advice- never know when an application will backfire. Had a situation with Photoshop 6.0 and OS 9 classic mode which kept freezing computer whenever I used it. Some programs just don't like to run in classic mode. thanks again

No problem Rico.
You'll find, as I have, that most applications will have almost full functionallity under classic unless they address hardware directly or through a proprietary driver format (which is why most music apps won't run in classic). As long as you keep all your software up to date you should have not problems running software such as Dreamweaver or Photoshop under classic.
I suspect that your Photoshop problem were related to non-current software versions rather than general incompatibilty as thousands of users (myself included) had little to no problems running v6 in classic mode.
As always, keep your software up to date and all will normally be well.
