Heya All,

I'm a creature of habit. I use both the design and code veiw at the same time when creating webpages. In Dreamweaver MX i had the ability to put the design view on top and the code view at the bottom. However this does not seem to be the case in Dreamweaver 8 and despite the added functionality the departure from the normal layout is driving me to distraction and back to Dreamweaver MX.

If there is a blindingly obvious solution to this problem could someone let me know. I think i've been looking at it too long.

Cheers

Howdy!

I understand your frustration, though I'm still in MX…

This page states you can toggle to design view. I wonder if you can open a Window that is just design view or code view?

Well shoot. Not a good sign! Do you want me to put your question back into the open queue so someone more knowledgeable than me regarding DW 8 can help out?

I wonder if you could open two separate design and code views in their own windows?

I'd love it to go back into the mix and see if anyone else can help.

Really appreciate you giving it a go though I can't find a way to get them into seperate windows either....something so simple....very frustrating indeed.

Cheers

I couldn't give up! I found what you need, I think. Just open Code View in its Code Inspector (should be one of those tab options in your tools window) and then open a Design View. Then you should be able to move them around to your liking:

"Can I view and edit the HTML code?
Dreamweaver provides direct access to the HTML code through the Code view or the split Code and Design view, or as a separate panel using the Code Inspector. Once the code is accessed, you can directly hand code HTML and see the code rendered in the visual Design view. In Design view, in addition to the Quick Tag Editor, you have several ways of adding or modifying tags and their attributes. The Tag Inspector allows you to modify attributes for tags selected in Design view. The Code view will show hints as you type. Dreamweaver also allows tag-level customization of code through its Tag Library Editor."
