Joseph, welcome to macosx.com
The error is notAllowedToSaveMovieErr = -2126.

What kind of video do you try to burned ?
How do you burn it ?
Does the file plays fine in QT ?

Regards
Philippe

the movie file is an .avi

i tried burning it with the Roxio Toast software.

the file does not play in QT. i've been using VLC Media Player to view it.

thanks again for your help!

So, this file has been coded with a codec that QT cannot find.
Good idea to use VLC: this freeware supports more codecs than Apple.
Happy you find a workaround and thank you for using macosx.com, Joseph

No, but as you burn the movie with Toast.... so for playing it elsewhere and not as data for archiving... so by selecting the Video Tab in Toast (am I right ?)... Toast has to reencode it.
And for this, Toast rely on QT tools

The best tool for encoding/reencoding is ffmegX
http://homepage.mac.com/major4/download.html

The new Toast 7 as built-in divx -xvid .. codecs, and will certainly offer more possibilities as far as movies are concerned

Quite sure that you avi is a divx/xvid coded film
DivxDoctor
http://www.3ivx.com/divxdoctor/
can help ypou to decode avi file to QT mov file
You can also install codec for QT
http://www.3ivx.com/download/macos.html
but I do not like this: plug-ins in QT are always source of instability
