i have a Imac slot load approx 4 years old run o/s 10.3.9 this unit has usb-1.1 and fire wire- 400. i would like to purchase a dvd burner and not pay a fortune say around $200.00 canadian. when i look at various burners they never say they are compatible with what. does that mean all units support mac? can anyone recommend a burner i should buy? thank you.

Just a warning that even with my Quicksilver PowerMac G4 running at 933MHZ - encoding a 2 Hour DVD prior to being able to burn the disk takes about 8 hours - with the processor maxed out at 100% utilization. This is not to say that you can't use your iMac to burn DVD's - just want you to know that patience will be required.
