I've finally figured out how to burn/back up my DVD's successfully. But why don't they work with "DVD Player.app" on my mac?

I used Mac the Ripper and DVD2OneX. That's it.
In MTR- Feature Only Extraction/ RCE Region = Off/ New Region = 1.
In DVD2OneX, I just do; Copy: Film/ Ratio: Variable/ Output: DVD+-R(W) and save it to a folder, then copy it directly to a single-layer DVD (by just dragging and dropping)
DVDs I've burned work fine in every DVD player I've tried except 'DVD Player' on my Mac (1Ghz G4/768/Tiger/SuperDrive). I figured that this is because of some kind of copyright protection. Please fill me in.

Chris, welcome to macosx.com

(1) Theoritically, MTR must have clean protection
(2) Could you try the VLC player (www.videolan.org) which is a more powerfull tool than Apple's one ?
(3) My experiences with chains like MTR->Handbrake->burn or MTR->Pocorn/Toast7->burn shows that sometimes that extracting a single feature in MTR(so not the entire disc, but preselect a specific stuff directly in MTR) produces a file with a header Apple's player cannot undertsand. That's why, I always rip the whole disc (Full Disc Extraction) than use Handbrake (free) or Popcorn/Toast7(commercial) to suppress titles/subtitles/soundtracks I do not want to see in the final DVD
I never use DVD2OneX.

I do not longer Apple's DvdPlayer.app which has a beautifull look, is integrated within Apple's OS.... but failed playing each time QT does not have the good codec....and you know how fast the video codecs change in the video jungle...

Regards
Philippe
