Hi,

I was wondering if there was a free download of software that I can take the info on a dvd and burn to a blank disk. I wanted to make a copy of a home made dvd and I was wondering how to make another copy of it. Thank you

Bonnie

(1) Use MacTheRipper to rip you whole DVD (or a part of it - ie, for instance, with disgarding japanese subtitles or Disney pubs ;-) - to a VIDEO_TS folder on your mac
http://www.ripdifferent.com/~mtr/
MacTheRipper is not compulsory as DVDImager (below) can clone a DVD; however (a) DVDImager cannot handle protected DVD - MacThe Ripper clean protection (b) MacTheRipper can copy part of DVD, DVDImager no

(2) use DVDImager to crate a DVD Image of this VIDEO_TS folder
http://lonestar.utsa.edu/llee/apples...dvdimager.html

(3) and finally use the burn facility of DiskUtility to burn a blank DVD

Just two things: (a) the final size of the image of the DVD to be burnt must in the valid range of a DVD-R: 4.7G !
(b) you must have at least twice the size of DVD to copy free on your hard drive to proceed this manual procedure !

PopCorn, a commercial app - http://www.roxio.com/en/products/popcorn/index.jhtml - does all this one trick plus is able to compress a whole DVD to fit in the range of 4.7G
Well, for 50 $ ....
