I made a video on final cut express and then lost the files and are unable to duplicate the DVD I made.
I found Mac the Ripper and attempted to rip and re-burn the DVD.
I've discovered there is a process in between ripping and burning that I'm not sure how to complete. Mac the Ripper leaves me with a bunch of IFO, BUP and VOB files which I can do nothing with. Is there another program or process that I'm missing?

I am trying to retrieve editing videos I've already completed for another project I must complete soon. I have time restraints and financial restrictions. Is there a free way I can resolve my dilemma quickly?

Thanks, Stu

Su,
If your rip all the original DVD, MTR ahd create a VIDEO_TS file.
So:
1.1 Download DVD Imager (your must be on OX 10.2 at least)
1.2 Create a Disc Image from your VIDEO_TS folder

2.1 Open Disk Utility (in Applications/Utilities folder)
2.2 Drag the image into the window
2.3 Put a blank DVD-R in your drive
2.4 Hit the Burn button

If you only rip one chapter/mainstream (only a .vob file), I'm sorry, I have no idea

Thankyou for your promt reply! I'm downloading DVD imager now.
However, I'm not sure what you mean by step 1.2 Create a Disc Image from your VIDEO_TS folder.
Can you explain the process to me please?

Thankyou, Stu

Hey Phil.

Ok, I am curious if it should take a long time for DVD Imager to create an image of my DVD.

I dropped my VIDEO_TS file into the program and set it on disk copy mode, and it has been working for over an hour now.
The original DVD was no more than 20 minutes in length.

Thanks, Stu

Stu,
I can only compare to the commercial PopCorn (Roxio Inc) I use to rip/create DVD.
For a commercial DVD of 1h 30':
ripping MTR: around 25'
encoding (can be compared to create an image): 25'
burning: 15'

A friend of me (I contact about your question and which used DVDImager in the past) states that DVDImager can be very slow because it is an Applescript relying on built-in mac Osx and it requires a big space for swapping. However, he gave me no typical duration !

Finally, does it wortks for you ?

Yeah, Thanks for checking, I think there maybe something wrong with it, as I left it running for at least 4 or 5 hours and nothing happened. It always told me that it was working.

Maybe I'll have to wait until I can afford a program that is designed better or something.
Thanks for your help.
