My 12 inch Aluminum Powerbook G4 133 with 1 gig of RAM and Leopard 10.5.2 hangs up on launch of the DVD Player with the beach ball of death requiring the machine to be shut down with the power button in order to get out of it and restart. The problem started with Apple's released it's Graphic 1.0 update for Leopard. There is a discussion group on this in Apple Discussions that seems to pin point it to this. So it seems this is a known problem that others with my type machine are experiencing. (I just wonder if Apple will be motivated enough to fix this problem for just this group of users)
Is there any additional information you know about this?
Is there a work around for this problem?
Can the old graphics profile be returned to? If so, how?
Thanks for any help you can give on this.

If you have Time Machine enabled, you can revert to a pre-backup system. You can find a guide on how to do this here:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.h.../en/15216.html
Unfortunately, this is a bug that Apple needs to fix (not a problem with your system), so DVD player may be inoperable until the next update. Periodically check for updates if you don't want to revert to an older patch.
You can use the free VLC to play DVDs in the meantime.

Thank you very very much for the quick reply. It was greatly appreciated. I have down loaded the VLC player and will use that as a work around until Apple fixes the problem.
Thanks again,
