I have an assortment of DVDs from various regions, but the DVD player will only allow me to change the Region settings up to 5 times. How can I continue playing my DVDs this way?
I'm using an iMac G5 1.8Ghz.
David.
My way
I use the freeware MacTheRipper to rip - and clean regions- the DVD which contains a region different from my (Europe) region.
MacTheRipper create a folde with a VIDEO_TS sub-folder containing all the fim's parts (or some of them if you want)
So, to play: DVDPlayer: File/Open a VIDEO_TS folder
or VLC (
www.videolan.org), which I prefer
This avoid me to increment this stupid "5 tries" region counter or to flash the DVD drive firmware to free regions counter (most of the Apple's DVD drive cannot be flashed)
Well, manual, needs 5G per film, need around 30' to rip a film
When the film ripped (or a part of if) and if its size is under 4.7G, you can use the free DVDImager to create a burnable image of the VIDEO_TS and burn this image through DiskUtility..of course if you have a DVD burner.
