is there any 3rd party dvd program that will work on mac os 9?

Not really. What's wrong with the native Apple DVD Player you have?

it says that there is a hardware problem and refuses to work. even after i bought a new dvd player. guess i just have to shell out a few bucks to get osx. o well

That might be the easiest option. What kind of machine are you using?

its a b&w g3. 400mhz with os 9. I also have another question. i just bought a D-Link 2000AP gamming adapter that says it will work with mac but wen i put the driver in, i cant open it. I dont even think its getting a signal from my modem (which is router and wireless built in one). I called the company but i was waiting on the phone for hours and all i got was "Pleas hold your call is very important to us" Yea Right!
