Hi, I'm new to dvd pro and sruggling to get started. I've just bought DVD pro 2.
Firstly I've upgraded to Quicktime pro but when I open the qt player it looks the same and the info just says 7.1.2 without reference to QTpro. There doesn't seem to be any advanced options. Am I missing something?
Having started the DVD pro tutorial it won't let me inport pre made qtimes. Do I need to convert them. There doesn't seem to be a reference to this in the quide.
Has anyone any ideas?
Thanks.

Hi!
Welcome to the insane world of authoring DVDs.
To answer your first question, about the only thing new that you will see with having purchased the Pro version is the ability to export files. When you open a movie, you should see an option under the "File" menu to "Export." If you don't see this, you may need to put in your registration number that you got from Apple. Go to System Preferences. Select Quicktime, then select the Register tab and put in your information.
For the second question, how are you trying to import the files into DVDSP2 and what is the reason that you don't think it is working. I am only asking this because when import Quicktime movies, they will show up in the Assets, but you will need to wait a while while DVDSP is doing whatever it thinks it needs to do to make those files available for you to use. Try a short file and give it about 15 minutes or so.
However, if this is not the problem that you are having, please let me know what exactly you are doing, what is not working and we'll see what we can figure out.
DVDSP will take Quicktimes just fine. They will need to be converted to MPEG2 files, but DVDSP will take care of that for you. Depending on what you are using it for, later on you may want to look into doing the conversion yourself but I would stick with the Quicktimes for right now.
Please let me know if this has helped any or not and if we need to dig a little deeper to get your problem solved.

Hi Leigh,
Sorry for the delay, I had some problem with the OSX site.
The problem with importing was that in the basic tutorial I was trying to use my own stuff individual files etc. but it seems to only allow you to import folders.
Anyway I'm taking a week off, going down to Pembrokeshire, so I thought I'd take the DVD pro manual with me for some lite reading.
Regards Bob
Sorry about the problem you had with the OSX site. I know that they are trying to improve it to make it easier for people to use and for the techs to be able to answer questions. Unfortunately, in this process, some errors occur.
Anyway, have fun with the 'lite" reading!
Once you get back, we should look at the assets that you are trying to import. You can import single files and they don't have to be in a folder. Were you able to import your stuff if it was in a folder? Did all of it import? What kind of files were you trying to import?
Let me know when you get back and we'll see if we can't get you going in the right direction.
