hello there, ill say thanku for any help u can give me in advance. I have an iMac G5 with 8x superdrive. Recently, wehilst trying to burn dvd's using Nti Dragon Burn or Toast Titanium, the maximum write speed is 2x. The disks i was originally using were Princo 4x, and to try and solve the problem i have tried Ritex 8x, still with no success. the Princo's worked at 4x when i got the Computer last november, and up untill a few weeks ago, i have tried making a new user account, updating versions of burning software etc, with no luck. any help on solving this matter would be much appreciated...many thanks,

Mitchell

Hi Mitchell,

Have you reset the properties for your particular project? For instance, when you burn a disk with Toast Titanium a popup screen asks you to input the parameters for the burn: file, name, write speed, etc. You can manually change the write speed from the default setting. The software detects the type of disk and file(s) being burned, and determines the best write speed.

Try changing this setting.

You can also choose to burn at a lower quality, faster speed on your disk. I don't know what you're trying to burn but if it's just data, there won't be a problem with a lower quality setting. If you're burning media, you'll notice the difference.

Sincerely,
Vishad
