Description:
I use the Apple video system to capture pictures from a camcorder. I am able to e-mail these pictures to other Mac users but not to windows pc's.
I have tried converting to JPEG or PICT formats using Graphics Converter but it still won't work. I think these images are stored in Simple text. Is there a way to change that?

Send Attachments? Yes

Hi Steve,

I'm sure that the problem is based on the encoding of the files, but can't tell you how to fix it specifically without knowing your email client. But, nonetheless, it's simple to fix.

Go to your preferences and find out how attachments are sent. Usually, in things like Netscape mail or Eudora, it has something like "BinHex" or "8-bit" encoding. These will probably not work for PC users. MIME and UUEncoding are almost certainly available in Windows email clients, so select one of them.

Also, PICT files may not normally be supported under Windows (it's a Mac format) so it's best to use JPEG formats. And it doesn't matter what is their creator, SimpleText or GraphicConverter -- Windows strips out that information because it uses extensions to figure out what a file is. Basically, make sure you use the .jpg extension.

If you have any further questions, don't hesitate to write back! Thanks for using No Wonder.
