I'm using Tiger, Office X and my Entourage gives me the error code 4362. I cannot receive or send messages and have emptied the Deleted Items folder and gotten rid of lots of old, unimportant messages. My folders are as clean as I can get them.
I am not able to rebuild the database: when I hold the option key and open Entourage, Entourage "unexpectedly quits." I tried creating a new idnentity and it "unexpectedly quits" when I get to the point where I choose to create a new identity - I also tried to rename the current identity and even delete the current identity, it just unexpectedly quits. (Except now I "expect" it to quit.)
I ran Tech Tool 4.1 4 days ago (booted from the CD) and Disk Utility (from the hard drive - not booted from the CD) today. And have tried numerous times to rebuild the database after these maintenance procedures with no success.
I've tried turning off Notifications and still cannot rebuild the database. I've deleted the Daemon from my start-up menu, still no luck.
I have two Microsoft User Data (MUD) folders:
Office X Identities it's 343.7 mb
Office 2004 Identities it's 18 mb
If that's helpful...
Any other suggestions?
Thank you!

Thank you for your prompt response.
According to the link, I should rebuild my database but I am not able to rebuild my database: every time I hold down the option key and start Entourage, Entourage "unexpectedly quits." I've tried this procedure several times: after quitting all applications, turning off Notifications, deleted the Daemon from my start-up menu and Entourage still "unexpectedly quits" every time - I've never been given the menu where I am able to choose the rebuild options.
Is there an alternate way to rebuild the database other than holding down the option key and starting Entourage? Is my problem so severe that I must uninstall Entourage and reinstall it? If so, where can I find instructions on doing this and retain my current User Data?
Thank you very much for your help.

I don't have any other info.
I would try uninstalling. You should have an uninstaller in The Microsoft Office folder/Additional Tools.
You can first backup the Microsoft User data file here;
User/Documents/Microsoft User Data.
