After spending several hours with two different Epson support people today, I was told that the imbedded drivers for my Epson in Leopard 10.5.2 would not give me the ability to choose which type of photo paper to use...glossy, vs matte vs plain. Grrrrrrrrrr. My printer has worked beautifully with my now defunct Toshiba PC laptop. Even though the printer is 3 years old it is in pristine condition. Apple Care says "it's an Epson problem" and Epson says "it's a Leopard 10.5.2 problem." Grrrrrrrrrrr again!
It's very frustrating to get no help, but a bunch of 'finger-pointing'!
Apple changed the way hardware drivers function in Leopard, (so it's Apple's fault), and it's up to the device manufacturer to provide updated drivers to support that new system (so, it's Epson's fault). I prefer to point at Epson. Have you tried the software patch at the RX620 software page? It's the one at the top of the list here:

There's also another choice - the gimp-print drivers (now called Gutenprint drivers). Those come with the Leopard install, and are an alternate driver for many printers. Gutenprint drivers are included that are supposed to support your RX620. Did AppleCare offer that as a choice?
If you have already tried that, and did not get any help with paper choice, then I don't have more to offer, except to suggest getting a printer from a company that _can_ help you, and just junk (or sell) your Epson. Go with Canon (a company that understands photo quality), for example.
I hope this will help you...

I would hope that you remember this when you next shop for printers. Seems like you got very poor support from Epson, or they don't train their support folks too well. eh? And, just left you floundering. I'm glad that the answer was at the Epson web site, but, still...?
Thanks for using MacOSX.com
