TICKET ARCHIVE -> Font Book Not Activating Fonts For Fireworks

Hello,

I'm running OS 10.3.4, with Font Book 1.0.1(v36) and have been having lots of Font Book problems.

At the moment, I've installed several fonts, selecting "Make it available for Classic OS 9" and checked that they are in the list of fonts for OS9 in Font book - as well as making sure that they are sitting in the System Folder/Fonts, however they are not showing up in the Font menu in my OS 9 version of Fireworks 3.
They do show up in Simpletext and Word.

This is a new problem, as six months ago (and I guess several updates earlier) I had been using these fonts in Fireworks.

Checked it out on another computer - running Tiger and a brand new version of Fireworks, and the same problem - the fonts installed in Font Book aren't appearing in the Fireworks font menu... but are appearing in other apps...

Any suggestions?
Many thanks.

Looks like a post on another forum/blog states that you need a restart after setting up fonts in FontBook in order for them to show up in Fireworks. Just search for "Fireworks" on this webpage:
http://www.blurbomat.com/archives/20...nd_font_book_2

Another, slightly helpful, post says that you can't load bitmapped fonts ito use for fireworks:
http://www.highdots.com/forums/archi.../t-441612.html

More posts about Fireworks:
http://www.highdots.com/forums/archi...f-15-p-21.html

So it looks like if you set up the fonts you want (not bitmapped) and restart you might be good to go. Can you get font book 2? It looks a bit more stable.

Hi Nat,

Thanks for the reply - the post you mentioned on highdots.com is the same problem as mine...

Unfortunately, these aren't bitmap fonts, and I've restarted multiple times.

Having spent the last day trying to sort this out, I believe it is an ATM problem - seems the ATM icon keeps disappearing from my OS 9 Control Panels Folder, and apparently Fireworks requires fonts to be installed via ATM and not font book for them to show up... bit wierd, but there you go.

So I'm hunting for my original discs so I can reinstall ATM, and also going to try to get a newer version of fontbook.

Again, many thanks,
Brie

No problemo!

Check the forums for three threads on ~atm. Here's one that mentions ~atm light:
http://www.macosx.com/forums/showthr...ghlight=%7Eatm

I wonder if you've reached your OS 9 font limit? I remember that 9 had a limit to how many fonts you could activate at one time…
