I have fonts in my Font Book that are not showing up in my MS Word font menu. They're installed and enabled. How do I get them to become available in MS Word?

(I recently had to have my hard drive replaced, requiring a re-install of MS Word.)

I recommend not using FontBook. Download the free Linotype FontExplorer and load your fonts there:
http://www.linotype.com/fontexplorer

If this isn't a desirable option, make sure only your required system fonts are in the system/fonts folder and the rest should be in a folder called MY FONTS or whatever you'd like, in the first layer of your computer's hard drive.

Required System Fonts:
Apple LiGothic Medium.dfont
AppleGothic.dfont
AquaKanaBold.otf
AquaKanaRegular.otf
Geneva.dfont
Keyboard.dfont
LastResort.dfont
LucidaGrande.dfont
Monaco.dfont
Hei.dfont
Helvetica.dfont

I'd keep Verdana in there too.

Let me know how this goes. It's possible the font you are using isn't compatible with word. Which font is it?

Did you try what I suggested?

Alas, the problem wasn't with MS Word . . . it was with me! I had neglected to take a few simple steps, but now I have the fonts in working order.

(These fonts are related to a software program I use called BibleWorks. Apparently I had to re-download the fonts from their website, and double-click on each one to get them properly installed after all, which I've now done.)

Still, thanks for beginning to help! For now I'll stick with Font Book, but I'll bear your recommendation in mind.

Excellent.

I'll close this thread now.
