Hi

Is it possible to install a PCC G4 Quicksilver processor in a G4 Graphite Macintosh?

I have recently upgraded my Quicksilver with a 1.8GHz Sonnet card and it would be a shame to just throw away the original processor. Among my Mac collection is an old G4 450MHz Graphite PowerMac, shouldnt it be easy to replace that old processor with the QS one as the original Graphite models reached 733MHz before being superceded?

Thanks

Jon

In case no tech here is able to address your question, I recommend you take it to Accelerate Your Mac.

The answer is no you can't. The Graphite processors have have 3 lug holes while the Quicksilver models have 4. They will not fit wiothout minor modifications.
