Get yourself a copy of DiskWarrior from Alsoft

http://www.alsoft.com/DiskWarrior/index.html

You can probably pick up a copy at your local CompUSA or Mac Retailer. If you dont have one you can always use OWA for mail order.

www.macsales.com

Boot off your new DiskWarrior CD by putting it in the CD drive and holding down the "C" key while your turn on the computer. Keep holding the "C" key till you see the grey Apple.

Once booted off the CD, use DiskWarrior to scan and repair your HD.

After you have done this your computer should boot on its own, without the use of the CD.

Once you have booted to your original HD, open Disk Utility ( Located in HD/Applications/Utilities ) and "Repair Disk Permissions" on your HD.

Let me know how it goes.
