I have an i mac G5 1.8GHz powerPC OS X 10.3.9 which is 14 months old. My son has The Incredibles: rise of the underminer game which keeps freezing then quitting at exactly the same spot in the second level. Took the game back to the apple store they tested it and said it was running ok on their machine. Any suggestions as to what the problem could be?. I've tried reinstalling it but this makes no difference. We have the first Incredibles game and it plays no problem.
Not too technical answers please!
Thanks Jane

Jane,

It sounds like there may be a preferences problem. Preferences are data that is kept on your hard drive between game sessions so the game can remember things from the previous execution.

Follow this link

http://www.versiontracker.com/php/se...macosx&x=0&y=0

and download AppZapper. It is an application that will cleanse your system of an application. Install it and follow the directions but basically just drag the game onto AppZapper's icon and it will show you all of the files on your system that apply to the game. Have it send all of them to the trash. Then empty the trash.

You should then be able to play the game just as if you had never played it before. This will require reinstalling the game from the CD if installing was required initially.

HOWEVER, if you only want to delete the preference files for the game then just put any files that AppZapper identifies that have the letters "plist" in their names.

If the problem is with the preferences then eliminating just them will clear things up and you will not have to reinstall but you may lose your status within the game and have to start play over from scratch.
