Abdallah,

When you click twice on the game's icon, do you see the icon moving in the dock, then it disappears? This could be a permissions problem.

Go to the Go menu at the top of your screen and select Utilities. When that window opens, locate Disk Utility and click twice on it.

When that opens click on the second icon in the side bar at the left, then click on Repair Permissions. The Repair Disk will be grayed out.

Do not worry about what is being reported in the activity window.
Once done, quit Disk Utility and give that game a try.

Let me know how you do.

Ally,

Are you set as Admin in your user Account or do you have restrictions (& the computer belongs to another person)?

Where did you install the Game - In Applications folder or your home folder?

Click once on the game's main icon.
Go to the file menu and select Get Info.
At the very bottom is Ownership and Permissions. If nothing shows up under that title, click on the arrow that is pointing to the words Ownership.
Now the window will expand. You should see You can and a pull down menu.
It should be set to Read & Write. Is it?

If not, can you use the pull down menu to change it?

If not, click on the arrow next to Details.
The window will expand further.
Owner should be set to your user name and there should also be a locked padlock next to your name (or the name it says).
Click on that pad lock. It will ask you for your computer password. This is the same password you use to log into the computer.

Now use the pull down menu to change the Owner to your user name. There will be a list of several strange names, do not worry about that.

Now immediately under owner is Access. This should be set to Read & Write.
Group and Others can stay at the default settings.

Now click on that padlock to lock it and prevent it from changing. Close the Get Info window and give the game a try.

I am the owner of this laptop and i have full previlage as an adiministrator. I have go to info window in the owner & permission it has been set to Read and
write.
As to the owner there is ial_zakwani which is the short name for adiministrator which is different name shown when i turn on my laptop which is Ally Abdallah Soud name of the adiministrator.
So when i try to change the name from ial_zakwani to Ally Abdallah Soud the name was no there!
You know i got this laptop from my uncle so when he gave me i tried to change his names to mine except i failed to change the short name because it was grayed.
Another thing one game from those games i downloaded start to work perfect since the day i downloaded it when i go to it's info window it is exactly like other games which dont want to launch. Still hanging!!!

Ally,

It sounds like your permissions is correct. Does this happen to just one game or several different games?

How much room is available on your hard drive? Free space is very important in running programs as the system uses free space for virtual memory and saving in its cache.

First, do you know how large of a capacity your hard drive is? To find how much free space, just open a window (home or Applications will do). Look at the very bottom of the window. It will show how many items in the window and how much free space is available.

OS X needs 15 - 20 % of free space to run smoothly.

There is one more thing you can try. Go to Home>Library>Preferences.
Now go to the View Menu and select by list. This will put everything in alpha order.
Scroll down the list until you find the preference file for that game. For instance, for Table Tennis, you might find it as TableTennis.plist or com.grassgames.tabletennis.plist or just TableTennis.
Once you have found the file, drag it to the trash.
Close the window
Empty the trash.
Now give it a try out.

Cheryl,

This happened to several games which i downloaded like kickin soccer, table tennis and free solitaire 3D.

Capacity of my hard drive is 74.4 Gb and available 63.59 Gb it means only 10 Gb has been used.

I did what you told me,but i didnt find any information concerning those games which doesnt want to launch i find only for one game which is working perfectly and written like this info.tellini.mac.WizSolitaire.plist

Ally,

What version of Table Tennis do you have? I noticed that a new version has been released recently that addresses the problem that you are experiencing.

Let's try to solve one game at a time.

Ally,

When it tries to open, but doesn't, do you get any error messages? Have you tried to launch it a second time?

It could be that that game (and the others you have downloaded) Is not capable of running on your machine.

I noticed that in order to get support from the makers of Table Tennis, you need to pay the shareware first. I suggest you contact the developer
support@grassgames.com
make sure you give them your exact computer model and OS version and let them know you can not get it started to evaluate it.

Let me know what they say.

Cheryl,

I have contact the e-mail you gave me,the developer gave me some instruction to apply in the terminal to help launch the game but unfortunately it gave me error message.

I informed him about the error in the terminal he told me that there is something missing or incorrect in my Mac OS X system though he cannot say for sure. He doesnt think if the problem is with the games.

Ally,

The developer then helped us. The next plan of attack is to update the OS.
Go here:
http://www.apple.com/support/downloa...pdate1039.html

You are downloading the combined 10.3.9 update. Once downloaded, quit all programs, then install the update.

This will require a restart. Once restarted, go to Applications>Utilities and use Disk Utility to Repair Permissions.
When done, quit Disk Utility and give that game a try out.

Let me know how you do.
