hi there,

Im trying to learn how to create GIF animated files and I am looking for a good and up to date tutorial that covers the process.
I am running OSX Tiger.
If you could point me in the right direction, and also mention which software I would need to get (or download for free if possible) in order to acheive this, I would be grateful.

Thanks,

Asaf

Howdy!

One of the first two softwares will suffice from versiontracker.com:
http://www.versiontracker.com/php/se...macosx&x=0&y=0

As for instructions it's easy! You must create each frame for your animated gif in exactly the same size and then do it like you would a cartoon. Each frame follows the next till you reach the end. Smaller animated gifs have fewer frames, and you can set them to either loop indefinitely, a certain number of times, or just once.

Let me know if this helps.

Thanks a lot, that was really a lot easier than I had imagined.
i downloaded GIFfun... and making the GIf is simple... but now my question is this... after I create the GIF, when I want to view it, it opens the Safari browser window to display the GIF. Now, if I want to take that GIF and put it on a webpage... how do I go about that?
Where is that GIF file saved?
How can I get to it later?
I dont know if Im making myself clear... if I want to create a GIF and save it to use later or to send it to someone else for them to use... where can I find the GIF i just created? and where can I store them?

Howdy!

Once you create the gif, you save it as a .gif file. It looks exactly the same as any other gif file except when you open it.

To load it on a web page just upload the .gif (animated) file you've created to your server and link to it and viola. Animated gif!

Do you have Dreamweaver or some other html editor? Just link to the .gif graphic as you normally would any other graphic for the web.

Let me know if that helps.

thanks... that will probably help as soon as I have something concrete to work on... well, actually, its not me... i have to make the GIFs and send them to someone who is designing the page... because quite frankly, I dont know anything about HTML... actually, do you know of any quick and easy way to learn HTML programming.... because its something I have always wanted to look into but never got around to doing....

thanks,

Asaf

yep, the easiest way to learn html is to pick apart sites that you like and view their source code. Any web browser will have a "View Source" option available.

To learn HTML I'd start here, at the w3 consortium. The folks who set web standards for everyone: http://www.w3schools.com/html/

That should do it! Hey, better close this thread, but if you have more questions, go ahead and post some more on macosx.com.
