Knowledge Level: Expert but stumped
Problem: Software
Computer Type: Apple
Model: Power Macintosh G3
RAM: 64meg
RAM Enhancer: Virtual Memory
OS Version: MacOS 8.1
Description:
(Actually Mac OS 8.5 but that isn't an option on your menu.)
Occasionally on my G3, I get a problem which appears in many programs where I get light pink and light green patches in a striped effect. When this happens I have to shut everything down because these patches usually obscure any open windows within programs and even show up around the edges of the application window (when you tear off the application menu).
My guess is that this is a memory leak from some program. Any ideas? It happens sporadically.

Hi John thanks for writing in.
Double check to make sure it isn't happening in the same program all the time. If it is, theres probobly an update on the culprit's website.
Apple and ATI just released the newest update for the video card installed in the G3 computers. If yours is an older G3 (non-seductive blue case) then you're still in luck. They just release 8.5.1 thats supposedly has the newest video drivers for that too.
Hope I could help,
Jason
