3 options available Guid Partition Table or Apple Partition Map /I'm not interested in the 3d one for DOS/ I split my HD into 2 with the presumption of installing Leopard on the 1st and OS Classic on the second partition. When I choose Guid or Apple Partition Map it applies automatically to both partitions and excludes the second installation. Any way to handle that?
Another question. After several days with my brand new 24" iMac my desktop was restricted in the sense of - I could not open any disk or icon including the HD clicking on it. The only way around - I choose right mouse open.
Thanks!
2nd question first! - Download and install the combined 10.5.3 updater. That may fix that annoying glitch that you have now.

Your hard drive will have the GUID applied by default, and is part of all partitions. Your Intel Mac can boot to an APM partition, but some updates will not install if you are booted to an APM partition. The Intel Mac will require that GUID partition for certain updates, such as firmware updates.
What exactly do you mean by OS Classic? Do you mean OS 9? You can copy OS 9 files and System Folder for OS 9 to your new iMac, but you can't use anything without a lot of difficulty. No new Mac has booted to OS 9 for about 5 years, and the Classic environment is not supported on either Leopard, or the Intel processor.
Hope that helps you...
