HI
I am new to macs and have had my first G4 powerbook for about three months. Everything was working fine until I used it following the xmas holiday. The Hard Drive states it is 93.04 GB with 40.59GB free. This is impossible. I have added the contents of the hard drive to be about 10 GB. Where has the rest gone? The only other thing I have noticed is that I can no longer connect to the internet via airport - this also worked fine before xmas.
Any help/advice would be appreciated.

I would probably do things the simple way: back up your irreplaceable files onto an external drive, flash drive or CD/DVD then do an erase/install with the original CDs/DVD that came with your PB. Use the
Restore disk(s) to install all of the Apple apps and a few third party apps that come with a PB purchase. Then let Software Update update your software and then see if your internet connection works.

BTW, there are a lot of invisible files on your PB, so just adding up the space taken by visible files will not give you the correct total. Also, if you use Filevault (I would recommend strongly against using it), a large amount of HD space is used.

HTH and please let us know what happens;.
