PROBLEM: Hardware
COMPUTER TYPE: ace
MODEL: Pentim
RAM: 32meg
OS VERSION: Windows 98
SERVICE PACK: ?

DESCRIPTION:

My computer is partitioned into 5 drives. The drive that the computer automaticlly goes to is the C drive which is 540MB often times while on the internet a page will not load because I do not have enough memory. The other drives are much larger. My question is how do I get the computer to pick one of the larger drives as the primary drive?

Hi Jeff,

You can't change the boot drive - it will be the first partition on the first drive (C. You can buy a program (Partition Magic) which can resize partitions, though I don't think Win98 has that option. But it might, by converting the drive to FAT32. Since I don't use Win98, I don't know enough to make a recommendation.

I have four partitions on my hard drive, divided as follows:

C: Windows and most of my programs
D: My 12-year-old's games
e: Data files, Zip files, text files
F: Netscape's Cache, Temporary Internet files, downloads

See http://www.annoyances.org/win95/win95ann1.html#09 for some idea on saving drive space.
