Computer Type: Apple Performa 6360 & LaCie External Hard Drive
Model: 6360
RAM: Not related
RAM Enhancer: None
OS Version: Not related

Description:
I am trying to hook a 170 mg LaCie external hard drive to my performa 6360. I have hooked it up with the cable, I have tried it with termination on and off and I think the external is set to #1 - doesn't conflict with anything - but I can't see the new hard drive. Can't get it to mount.

The book says to start from a floppy and force the new hard drive to mount, but the disk included has 7.1 - and I need 7.5 or 7.6 to start up. If I manage to get it started from a floppy, where do I go from there? I have read about it and read the book, but I can't see the darn thing to work with it!

Any other ideas I should be trying?

Michele,
Hi, my name is Ed. I'm a No Wonder volunteer and will try to answer your question. My email address is
You need a utility called SCSI Probe to locate and mount the HD. YOu can get SCSI Probe, free, from ZDNet Mac Download at

You may also need a new driver for the HD. Check out the LaCie website at

Good luck,
ed
