Greetings,
I just got a new iMac G5, and I tried plugging my Harman/Kardon sub woofer into it but got no sound.
It works fine on my old 933Mhz Quicksilver G4... but no love on the G5.
It was always just plug and play as far as I can remember... never needed any driver, etc.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!

I have a USB iSub that I use in my shop, which has been used with about 20 different Macs over the last 6 or 7 years. Currently used with a new aluminum iMac, running Leopard.
You have to select the iSub as an output, in your Sound pref pane. Click the Output tab in that pane, and choose your iSub out of the list of devices.
Let me know if that works...

The sub doesn't show up in the Sound section of the system preferences... Only the Internal Speakers are available in the Output tab.
What am I missing?
Hmmmmm?
Thanks for your Help!

The iSub works on every Mac I have ever tried, so maybe yours is faulty somehow. Have you tried a PRAM reset while your iSub is connected?
Have you tried contacting Harmon Kardon? Or, at least checked for support at the H-K site?

Can you explain how to do a PRAM reset for me?
I'll check out the H-K page on the morrow.
Thanks!

Sorry, I thought you have used Macs before. It's the same on all Macs, as long as there have been Macs.
Restart, while holding the Option-Command(Apple)-P and R keys. You will hear the startup chime. Keep holding those same 4 keys until you hear the startup chime 2 more times, then release and let your Mac continue to boot normally. Then, for your problem, check if the iSub shows as an alternate sound output in the Sound pref pane. If not, your Sub just won't work on the new systems. I did see some info that the iSub just isn't supported, but the iSub that includes the SoundSticks (which is what I have, BTW) continues to work.
Good Luck!
