I am currently living in Madrid, Spain and I have a MacBook Version 10.4.11. I have you used my computer at several places here in Madrid with my WiFi. I just moved into a new place a few days again and my roommates have wireless internet. When I turned on my computer I could see several network (all password protected), but could not find there network. My cousin mentioned it might be hidden so I created a network and it still didnīt work. I have called Apple and have tried to find info online on what to do. I do not know if I need to enter info in my network settings. Any help would be awesome!

You could download and run CoconutWIFI.
http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/29017
That will give you a new menu item that will show all networks that are in range, even closed network.

There's also a widget called AirTrafficControl, which is a Dashboard widget that gives you the same types of info about all the networks that are within range.

A closed network may be a challenge, unless you know that it is working on another Mac. A closed network can be set for Windows only, and a Mac will be completely blocked. A closed network will require that you know both the network name and the passphrase. You may also need to know what type of wireless security is in use.
However, you should still be able to see the network with one of those tools that I mentioned. You might not be able to connect, even if you can see that network. In that case, you will want to talk to whoever is the network administrator.
Hope this helps you...

Thanks Dale for all your help. I have not been able to download the program yet because I do not have access to the internet, but tomorrow I will go to a cafe. I will let you know tomorrow afternoon how it turns out. Thanks so much! I hope to works.

Well, I download both programs and they work. But the network still does not show up. What is next? Thanks for your help. Is there anything that I should look for on their computers?

If neither of those two apps will show any network, then you likely have a problem with your Airport card, and your MacBook needs service.

Do you get anything if you take your MacBook to somewhere else that has an open wireless network?
