I just got this hard drive enclosure (
http://www.3dxtreme.net/index.php?id...c3.5enclosure1) and I can access my files, but I can’t delete any files because it’s read – only. Help!

Make sure you have an administration account or are using the root account. Ctrl-Click the hard drive icon on the desktop and click Get Info.
Open the Ownership and Permission flippy and change the drop-down box optioon to 'You can Read & Write)
This "should" solve your problem.
If you can't change this option because the drop-down box won't work, just reply again.

Thank you Willian, This is the stage I was at before I posted the message. When I am at the "Get Info" box, under ownership and permissions, it says "You can only read" but there is no chaging that. What do I do?

Do you know about the root account (also known as the superuser)?
If you do know what this is, log into it and try again.
If you need to know how to set up the root account, reply again.

Hi Steven -
I'm going to take a different approach on this. If you select the drive in the finder window, Choose Get Info. First, look at the checkbox "ignore permissions on this volume". If it is checked, then it is not an ownership/permissions issue. Also, look at the Format. If it is NTFS (standard Windows format), then you can read the drive, but not write to it. If that's the case, you'll need to get off what you want, then use Utilities/Disk Utility to re-format the drive. Let me know what you see in the Get Info Window.
