I want to start using the Skype telephony for communicating with the rest of the world for free on my iBook. I am so tired of searching for a good but affordable headset. I tried a friend's headset with the mic (supposed to be one of the best out there which worked great on a PC) but while I can hear well, the mic did not record (when i tested it on Skype). The built-in mic on the iBook does not seem to be functioning. So, now what? Please help!
Thanks

Hi Kurnia,

Did you select the newly plugged in mic at the System Pref's Sound panel (3rd tab) yet?

Leon

Thanks sooo much for the speedy response. Yes, I did that, in fact, to the max! Also, while searching for a headset, I saw this ad for Griffin iMic USB base port (or something like that) that would allow me to plug in an external mic but there wasn't much info whether it would work on a Mac iBook. What do you think? Would that be any good/worth buying?
Thanks.

(sorry to respond less fast this time..)

If it's this one http://www.ahernstore.com/imic.html, I can tell you I own one myself for a few years now and allthough I don't use it much, it worked fine with my 1st generation G4 powerbook.

I guess your iBook is a lot newer/faster so I assume it will work fine with it too, but of course I havn't tested it on an iBook myself.

Leon

Okay, I went out to buy the iMic yesterday and so far it works fine on my iBook - hopefully for a long time. Thanks for the hep/info. Keep up the good & much appreciated work :-)
