I will start by saying that I don't know much on this topic but I know it can be done. I have been running my Power Mac G4 with a 250 gig external hard drive on a cable modem. Then I purchased a wireless router for my wifes laptop and hooked it up to the modem.

Last month I purchased a Mac Book Pro, and am working off the same router and all is going well. What I am wanting to do is build some form of network so I can access the files I have on my external hard drive wirelessly. How can this be done? Can it be done?

Thanks in advance for your help.

To grant permissions for accessing folders (and external hard drives), get the utility SharePoints from www.versiontracker.com. To learn about file sharing, read:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106461

Also, you will find plenty of info in Mac Help (Finder Help menu > Mac Help > search for file sharing) on your computer!
