Hi there,

Firefox automatically wants to save PDF Files when I click on a link. Where can I change the settings, so that firefox opens them instead of saving them?

Thanks a lot
Calvin

In the section of Firefox Preferences for plugins, you can click on the currently set action for Portable Document Format and change it from Save to Disk to Open in Preview. If Preview is not shown, choose Other App and select Preview.

Hi Ben,

thanks for your fast response. However I cant get the problem resolved. I am using firefox 2.0.0.14 . Under Preferences there is no Plugin sheet, I am assuming you are refering to the Content Sheet under Manage File Types? However, Adobe does not appear there - although I do have the Adobe Reader installed and it is working. Is it possible that it is not set as a plugin in Firefox, and if, how can I do so?

Thanks,
calvin

In Manage File Types, are you sure you don't see Portable Document Format. The list is in alphabetical order and you won't find it listed under Adobe or PDF, which is why it might elude you. I definitely saw it there on another Mac a couple days ago. You might also want to upgrade to Firefox 3, although PDF support is still not integrated. In general, even on your speedy Intel Mac, you will find Adobe Reader take significantly longer to open than Preview.
