This question is out of scope for support. This site supports Mac OS X not Debian Linux.

However, the easiest Debian Linux is Ubuntu and you can freely download that as an ISO CD image. Burn that image to a CD-R and boot the Intel Mac with it and it should install for the most part. http://ubuntu.com/ will get you started. It is Debian under the hood so you have all the apt-get goodness that Debian provides. Hold down the C key when you boot the Mac and it will boot from the Ubuntu CD.

You can install BootCamp and dual boot between Mac OS X and Ubuntu and even WinXP. http://www.apple.com/macosx/bootcamp/ - http://refit.sourceforge.net/ ( a tweak to allow multiple boot). Or you can purchase Parallels Desktop for Mac and install Ubuntu, WinXP, Win98, DOS, etc. into Virtual Machines which run under Mac OS X and run in a window - http://parallels.com/

I don't know why you would wipe Mac OS X and install Debian Linux, as any new Intel Mac would come with a fully capable Intel Mac OS X operating system which has a UNIX kernel, X-11, full development tools, multiple language support, and it's designed for the Intel Mac hardware so all the devices will work. You also get iLife (iPhoto, iTunes, iMovie, iDVD, GarageBand, iWeb). Unlike Debian which will have trouble with at least some of the hardware on the Intel Mac. i.e. iSight camera, etc.

It doesn't make sense to run Linux on a brand new Intel Mac... You can run almost all Linux software on Mac OS X. Most people who run Linux do so on older hardware as it will keep the computer useful and fast. The only people I know of still running Linux instead of Mac OS X are those OpenSource / GNU purists who absolutely refuse to pay for any software whatsoever.

The only other possibility is that the Mac may be stolen and you don't have the install media; which you can't even buy because it only ships with new computers until the new Leopard OS ships. i.e. Tiger for Intel is not available at the Apple store, it only ships on new systems. When Leopard comes out it will be available in Intel and PowerPC.

There's one other possibility, the computer belonged to a business that went bankrupt and someone bought all the equipment in an auction and the install media was not provided. You might be able to contact Apple and pay for replacement installation media. http://www.apple.com/support/contact..._contacts.html

I cannot provide further assistance on Debian Linux, try searching Google for Debian forums. Try the Ubuntu forums.
