TICKET ARCHIVE -> How to automatically rename picture files

I guess my camera resets the picture numbers or something. Anyway, I need to rename (numerically I guess) lots of files. I just want highlight a bunch of files and have them automatically renamed. Is this possible?

So I'm poking around and start right clicking things. If in doubt, right click, right? I notice Automator. I clicked
Rename Finder Items
Run
but nothing seemed to happen.

Might want to try FileWrangler.

What abouit Automator? It looks like it can do the job. I must have done something wrong.

Perhaps Automator would work. You didn't tell it what Finder Items to rename. Probably need to Get Finder Items first. Remember, you need to define each step of the process as if you were doing it yourself.
