Dear Sir/ Madam,

I want to open a xhash file. What programme or software do I need to open the file? I hope to hear from you soon. Thank you

Hi and welcome to macosx.com

As far as I know, xhash files are related to hash tables protocol which drives some exchanges types on the Web like Jabber for iChat/Adium or P2P programs.

I only knows xhash.c or xhash.h files, which are part of the C++ source code for such protocol and can be opened with a simple text editor (TextEdit, TextWrangler, BBedit)

I never hear a xhash file being encoding as abinary file, so, in your case, I will try to open it with a text editor. Or can you provide more details about this file: how you get it (Newsreader perhaps ?), ...

If this fails, I run out idea, so post back to allow me to repool the question
Regards
Philippe

Hi Tracy,

Welcome to macosx.com. My name is David, and I will be assisting you. According to this Wikipedia entry, the MTV format is a video file format used by certain mp3-like players. I suggest you download VLC or MPlayer, both of which are able to open and play most video file formats. Let me know whether or not it works.

Regards,
David

Tracy,

Your welcome. I'm surprised it didn't work. What is the file extension? You can view all file extensions by doing the following: switch to the Finder, open Finder-->Preferences, click on Advanced, and check Show all file extensions. Let me know.

Dear David,

Sorry, I don't understand what do you mean 'switch to the Finder'? Where should I go for 'switch to the Finder'? I hope to hear from you soon. Thank you.

Finder is an application that runs in the background of Mac OS X. Its icon is in the Dock, and it looks like a blue rectangle with a face on it.
