I need to update my itunes to the latest 7.5 and when I download it, I can't use it because it says I need osx version 10.3.9 or higher. How do I get 10.3.9 version or higher? I looked at the download options on the apple website but there are too many and I got confused. Do I have to buy a new operating system? If so that is LAME.

Its not unusual for new versions of _any_ software to require updating the operating system.
Why do you need the latest iTunes?
If you just purchased a new iPod or iPhone, then your OS X will need to be higher than 10.3.9. All the new iPods need a minimum of 10.4.8. An iPhone requires 10.4.10 or newer. Your QuickTime software will also need to be updated to something higher than 6.5.2. Some of this may be free downloads through your software updater.

To help answer your question, which model of Mac, and which version of OS X do you have now?
If you don't have at least 10.3 something or higher, then you have to get a version that will install on your Mac.
You can find out which OS X version you have by going to the Apple menu in the top left corner of your screen. Choose About this Mac, and then come back with the version number, and the Version number of OS X. Also, the Processor info, and Memory numbers will be helpful for recommending how you can update the easiest.

Please come back with your system info
I hope this helps answer some of your concern.

Your system software is now 3 generations - 3 full version numbers - behind the current version, which is 10.5
You need 10.3.9 minimum to use the latest iTunes software.
You can find 10.3 disks at good prices on the internet, such as eBay. But, you don't always know what you will get. Better to look locally in an Apple Store or an Apple retailer.
If you know someone who is a Mac user, you might ask if you can 'borrow' an installer disk. 10.3 or 10.4, or 10.5 will all be fine on your Mac.
Or, you can buy the current Leopard (10.5) at any Apple retailer, or order on-line from Apple.com.
Hope this helps you.
